Where we’re headed

This research has been funded by the Office of Naval Research and the National Science Foundation

Upcoming experiments include an NSF-funded project to sample the 3D density/velocity structure and turbulence at the terminus of LeConte Glacier, Alaska, where strong subglacial discharge leads to >1 m/s surface currents, as estimated from time lapse photography (left).  In addition, we are headed to Palau in the fall of 2016 to sample 3D eddies, waves and other small-scale dynamics in the lee of an island chain as a part of the ONR funded FLEAT experiment.

In addition, other experiments are being planned to study ice-ocean, river-ocean and air-sea interactions in the arctic and indian oceans.
